10 things to Inspire your next Package Design

Package design is a combination of form and function. Not only must it serve the purpose of clearly presenting important information, it also has to be economical. Here are 10 examples of some of the neatest and innovative designs out there.

Package design is a combination of form and function. Not only must it serve the purpose of clearly presenting important information, it also has to be economical. Here are 10 examples of some of the neatest and innovative designs out there.

1. Nendo's Shiawase Banana Labels

Not everything is about the box! This creative design works directly with the product as an interactive sticker.

"the double-layered sticker reproduces the look and feel of a banana peel"

2. Little Twig Farm's Cheese Package

The use of material is key in this design, and it effectively conveys the mood of the company.

"The box, designed by student Xiao Han, features laser cuts that allow parts of the package to fit together and come apart with ease."

3. Tous H2O's Recycled & Recyclable Perfume Bottle

An amazing way to re-think perfume packaging, this design is centered around recycling.

"Tous H20 is being billed as 'eco-chic', the glass is made from 25% recycled material and is 100% recyclable."

4. Eco-Friendly Chinese Take-out Concept

A cute, stackable, low-cost, recyclable design. Who knew take-out could be this green?

5. Tyto Alba's Wine Branding & Design

An adorable yet beautifully refined design, resembling a barn owl's abode.

"Wines that invoke their loyal guardian to embody Companhia das Lezirias’ commitment to preserve nature."

6. Igor Mitin's ZEN Perfume

Absolutely stunning two-part bottles exploring organic forms.

"The packaging concept of “ZEN” perfumes is the synthesis of organic shape and perfume bottle."

7. Zee's Honey

A bright, luminous, frosted design that stands out from the rest.

"Built from young biologists’ passion and care for bees and the environment."

8. Te Quiero Tea

A visual spectacle that blooms before your eyes.

"Té Quiero" phonetically, in spanish, can either mean "I love you" or "I want tea".

9. Latona's Cakes

One of my all-time favorite food packing designs. Beautiful, functional, and so much fun!

10. Afterhours Dog's Dinner

Funny and precious, this package is absolutely adorable and embodies life through a dog's eyes.

"To capture this theme of a dog’s perspective on taste, the identity and structural packaging would centre around the slipper for dinner and the newspaper for breakfast- two staples of family life that hold an unaccountable attraction to dogs."

Spring of 2016

It's the beginning of a new semester and I am quite excited. Watching the snow fall, I am caught between hoping for the day off and anticipating an exciting montage of classes and work. This semester, I have three on-campus jobs and two design jobs in addition to the usual freelance work. I am taking a typography course, an art history course (Enlightenment to Modernism), advanced Spanish, intermediate piano, and philosophy. Unfortunately, I have been so busy with school and work that I have neglected personal painting. My modeling career is steadily pushing forward. I now work at a print and design studio, gradually saving money for a planned trip abroad in 2017. Hopefully after I graduate I will go on a Grand Tour of my own, to study art, culture, and language.

Greatness Comes in Threes

FullSizeRender.jpg

I was requested by three separate people for an already sold painting, Birch Trees. Because I recently had my wisdom teeth removed, I had plenty of time at home to paint. Usually, it is my tactic to never reproduce a painting - never paint something more than once. But it was soothing, and great practice. As a set, they look quite nice, but they are off to their new homes now, and my teeth are fully healed.

Sketching

Free-time sketches. It's been a while since I've drawn anything since I've been so focused on design! This summer is perfect for drawing and painting to build my portfolio. Over the summer I'll have a lot of jobs though!
