Catalyst: The Art of John Gornto

  • Chesapeake Arts Center 194 Hammonds Lane Brooklyn Park, MD, 21225 United States (map)

Catalyst: The Art of John Gornto runs from December 9th to the 17th at the Chesapeake Art Center (CAC) in the Hal Gomer Gallery. An opening reception will be held Friday, December 9th from 6 PM to 8 PM featuring the Pandemic Steelband, and is free to the public.

Catalyst: The Art of John Gornto is presented by the Museum Practice students of UMBC Visuals Arts Department and hosted by Chesapeake Arts Center.

In science, a catalyst incites reaction. John Gornto, artist and aerospace engineer, works in the Baltimore area. He creates artworks that react to his personal struggles and to his environment. Over 15 artworks, both large and small scale, including acrylic and watercolor paintings and sculptures within cigar boxes will be featured.

CAC will use the arts to excite, educate, engage, inspire and grow this community's people, its artists and the region through performances, exhibitions, classes, and collaborations with artists, educators, business and community leaders and organizations. The CAC is open Monday through Friday 10am-6pm and Saturday 10am-3pm.
